OpenAI is making a major step into the higher education sector, with Kazakhstan becoming the first country in the world to pilot its next-generation ChatGPT solutions for teachers and students, MadeniPortal.kz
Kevin Mills, Head of Education and Government Programs (GTM) at OpenAI, announced the initiative during a roundtable discussion in New York, attended by the heads of leading U.S. companies – the so-called “captains of industry.” The session was chaired by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
👨🏫 According to Mills, OpenAI is developing two specialized versions of ChatGPT:
-
One for educators, designed to act as a teaching assistant by analyzing data, gathering and structuring materials, building courses, and even checking assignments.
-
Another for students and schoolchildren, serving as a personal mentor – similar to “Jarvis” from Iron Man – helping learners structure knowledge, set reminders, and personalize their education journey.
🎓 Mills highlighted that this innovation could transform how knowledge is delivered and absorbed, offering a long-awaited tool for personalized education. The President of Kazakhstan welcomed the initiative, noting its potential to elevate the nation’s academic system.
🚀 With Kazakhstan as the starting point, OpenAI aims to set a global precedent in how artificial intelligence supports teachers and empowers students worldwide.
